    • About

The Jefferson County Historical Society is an incorporated, 501(c)(3) non-profit organization located in the downtown historic district of Port Townsend. Since 1951, the Jefferson Museum of Art & History has welcomed visitors to the landmark City Hall building at 540 Water Street. The organization also manages the 1868 Rothschild House in Uptown PT, the 1904 Commanding Officer's Quarters in Fort Worden State Park, the Gateway Visitor Center and the Jefferson County Research Center, both on Highway 19. JCHS is also the fiscal sponsor for Friends of Swansonville, a community group working to restore the last remaining historic structure in Port Ludlow, the Swansonville Church.
