Empowering people to live in abundance and thrive in a changing world

The Dirt Rich School is a nonprofit organization located on Compass Rose Farms, an abundant 40-acre property that is a peaceful sanctuary with gardens, ponds, forests, fields, creeks and paths. There are countless places to wander, sit and observe nature. In addition, it is home to a beautiful permaculture demonstration site. We are located near Port Townsend at the tip of Discovery Bay in Northwest Washington.

We teach applied Permaculture design, modern homesteading, holistic animal husbandry, and sustainable food production through a mentorship program offering a hands on learning experience.

In our demonstration site garden our students experience there education with hands on application. We use a blend of traditional whiteboard learning methods, and outdoor greenboard lectures to create a dynamic educational environment. This allows for students to observe and interact with nature as the classroom.

The school facilitates a place to learn, a place to grow, and a place to inspire change.

If you are interested in sustainable living or permaculture and don’t know where to begin, our school is a great place to start! For those who already have a Permaculture Design Certificate, we can provide you the hands on experience you are looking for!
