Born in this land nestled between mountains, rainforest and the sea is where I spent my formative years frolicking in the woods and exploring the depths of my imagination. Having played a variety of instruments in a number of different bands and styles since childhood, I've always been drawn to the limitless potential that musical expression has to offer. This passion has brought me many fantastic places in life such as the Beijing 2008 Olympics where I participated in an international marching band representing the United States. I continued following my passion for music and the arts when I left my hometown to pursue higher education at the University of Washington in Seattle, where I played in a several large ensembles. It was here I also discovered my affinity for the outdoors, natural history and began to develop my own artistic identity. After graduating from UW I returned to my hometown on the Olympic Peninsula to serve an Americorps term and focus on artistic development. It was during this year living in the country that I truly advanced my independent artist skills and began writing original music for guitar and Appalachian dulcimer. I also started to pick up making original works of visual art in a variety of mediums. When this phase of my life was over I followed my passion for the natural world and returned to Seattle to work with the renowned Washington Trails Association, the worlds largest and most successful hiking and trails centered nonprofit. This move also allowed me to begin my involvement with the Seattle music scene and become a part of a rich artistic community. Over the last few years I've managed to build many fantastic connections and play a number of unforgettable shows in iconic venues around Seattle. Some of the most notable events I've performed at in the city have been The Feast for the Winter Solstice put on by the Fremont Arts Council and a benefit concert I organized for Washington Trails Association at the Fremont Abbey. After living in Seattle for a few years I answered the call northward. In April 2018 I left home and packed my life into a retrofitted Honda Element camper and embarked on a half year music tour of Alaska, the Yukon and British Columbia. Throughout this time I was lucky to touch many communities of the north with music and even participated in some fantastic festivals such as the Alaska Folk Festival and the Seldovia Summer Solstice Festival. The drive to do all of this stems from my belief that to create a better world we must learn to treat each other, the planet and ourselves with greater compassion and empathy. By connecting people to nature and the most awe inspiring parts of their imagination through music I hope to play my own small part in shaping a more beautiful and harmonious world for us all. Recently I have returned from the north and started a new phase of life on the Olympic Peninsula in Port Townsend. Here I have found work with Eaglemount Wine & Cider and will be continuing my musical pursuits throughout the greater Pacific Northwest. Life is a fantastic and wild journey, won't you join me? http://mossyraven.com/
