    Name: Bio Blast 2022
    Date: May 21, 2022 - May 22, 2022
    Event Description:

The Port Townsend Marine Science Center will host its 5th annual, 24-hour BioBlitz at Fort Worden State Park. Join the fun at a safe social distance, and help us record all living species (including plants, animals, fungi, and everything else) within the park boundary!

    When:
    From 10 a.m. on May 21, to 10 a.m. on May 22.

    Where:
Anywhere in Fort Worden State Park!

Note that the Fort Worden State Park does close at dusk, but opens at sunrise.

The low tide on Saturday, May 21, is -1.2' at 3:10 p.m.

If you have questions, PTMSC staff and AmeriCorps will be available by the Museum portico entrance on Saturday from 10 a.m. - 11 a.m. and 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. The Museum is the exhibit building on the shore.
Additionally on Saturday, the Fort Worden AmeriCorps will be available near the North Beach parking lot from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

    How to participate:
We will be using the iNaturalist app and website to help us as we venture out to all corners of the state park to find, photograph, and identify as many different species as we can.

You can take photos with your smartphone and upload them to the iNaturalist app. Or use your camera and upload your photos to the iNaturalist website when you get home.

All of the observations that you make in Fort Worden State Park during the BioBlitz will be automatically added to our iNaturalist BioBlitz page.

Is species ID not your thing? Not to worry! All you need to do is take photos of what you see and upload them to the iNaturalist site. Naturalists will be helping online with identification.

    Before the BioBlitz starts:
Before May 21, sign up for a free iNaturalist account at inaturalist.org or through the iNaturalist app.

A guide for getting started with iNaturalist is available at inaturalist.org/pages/getting+started

    How to participate remotely:
Log into your iNaturalist account, and join PTMSC staff and volunteers to review observations and help identify species as they are uploaded. Look for Port Townsend Marine Science Center BioBlitz 2022.
